Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Aura Light Studio website and any booking, consultation, or service provided by Aura Light Studio (“we,” “us,” “our”). By using this website or booking services, you agree to these Terms.

1) Website use

You agree not to misuse the website, attempt unauthorized access, or copy content without permission. All site content (text, images, video, branding) is owned by Aura Light Studio unless otherwise credited.

2) Inquiries & consultations

Consultations may be complimentary and are intended to discuss your vision, availability, and options. A consultation does not guarantee a reservation of your date. Dates are only reserved once a contract is signed and the required payment (e.g., retainer) is received.

3) Booking, retainers, and payments

  • A booking is confirmed only when we receive a signed agreement and the required retainer/payment.

  • Retainers are generally non-refundable unless stated otherwise in your agreement.

  • Remaining balances and due dates are outlined in your invoice/contract. Late payments may delay delivery.

4) Rescheduling & cancellations

Rescheduling and cancellation terms vary based on the type of service and timing. Specific policies (including notice periods, retainers, and reschedule fees) will be defined in your signed agreement and control over general website wording.

5) Travel & location fees

For events or sessions outside our standard service area, travel fees, accommodations, and/or permit costs may apply. If you book locations that require permits, access passes, or permissions (e.g., parks/venues), you are responsible unless otherwise agreed in writing.

6) Creative style & artistic discretion

You acknowledge that photography and videography are artistic services. We maintain creative discretion regarding:

  • Editing style, colour, and composition consistent with our portfolio

  • Selection of delivered images and final film edit

  • Use of substitute equipment or team support as needed to deliver the service

7) Deliverables & turnaround times

Estimated delivery timelines are provided in your agreement and may vary by season. Delivery timelines are not guaranteed if delays occur due to circumstances outside our control (e.g., illness, equipment failure, extreme events). We will communicate promptly if a delay occurs.

8) Client responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate event/session information

  • Communicate timeline changes in advance

  • Obtain permissions for restricted venues/locations if required

  • Ensure cooperation of participants (especially for formal portraits)

  • Inform us of any sensitive circumstances or privacy needs before the event/session

9) Copyright & usage

Unless otherwise stated in writing:

  • Aura Light Studio retains the copyright to all images/films created.

  • Clients receive a personal-use license to view, share, and print.

  • Commercial use (vendors, publications, ads) requires written permission unless included in your agreement.

10) Portfolio / publicity

Portfolio usage (website, social, advertising, publication) will follow the permissions outlined in your agreement/model release. If you require confidentiality, you must notify us in writing before the event/session and ensure your agreement reflects this.

11) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Our liability is limited to the amounts paid under the applicable agreement.

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (e.g., missed moments due to factors outside our control, venue restrictions, weather, guest interference).

12) Force majeure

We are not responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, travel disruptions, illness, or emergencies. In such cases, rescheduling/credit options will be handled according to your agreement and applicable law.

13) Third-party platforms

We may use third-party tools (galleries, scheduling, payment processors). Your use of those platforms may be governed by their own terms and policies.

14) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, and applicable Canadian federal laws, unless your agreement states otherwise.

15) Updates

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on our website with the effective date.
